Born in 1987 in Vilnius, Lithuania, Gleb Pyšniak is one of the brightest in his generation of Baltic cellists. He made his concerto debut at age 14 in Lithuanian National Philharmonic Hall as a soloist with the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra under prof. Saulius Sondeckis. Since then he has performed internationally in Austria, Croatia, Denmark, Holland, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Norway, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland and Italy in prestigious venues such as the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory, Concertgebouw of Amsterdam, Vienna Musikverein, Casa da Musica of Porto, Fazioli Concert Hall in Italy, Hofburg palace in Vienna, Teatro Verdi in Pisa, at the Great Guild of Riga City, Edvard Grieg's home - Troldhaugen Museum, Moscow Conservatory Rachmaninov Hall, Vilnius City Hall, Vilnius Congress Palace, Lithuanian National Philharmonic, National Opera and Ballet Theatre, Kaunas Philharmonic and others. He has also appeared as a soloist with the Moscow Conservatory Symphony Orchestra (conductor Andris Vecumnieks), Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra (conductor Georg Mark), Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra (conductor prof. Saulius Sondeckis), Symphony Orchestra of Porto (conductor Alexandr Shelley), Symphony Orchestra of Kaunas (conductor Modestas Pitrenas), Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, Vidzeme Chamber Orchestra (conductor Andris Veismanis) and others.

Gleb Pyšniak has worked with several internationally recognized maestros including Yo-Yo Ma, Mstislav Rostropovich, David Geringas, Philippe Muller, Heinrich Schiff, Truls Mørk, Philippe Bary, Alexander Boyarsky, Lluis Claret, Dmitri Ferschtman, Michael Flaksman, Johannes Goritzki, Maria Kliegel, Reinhard Latzko, Monika Leskovar, László Mezö, Elena Očic, Miklós Perényi, Jérôme Pernoo, Jeroen Reuling, Gustav Rivinius, Silvija Sondeckienė, Eleanora Testelec, Hege Waldeland.

Gleb Pyšniak is a prize-winner of many national and international competitions including the Karl Davydov IV International Cello Competition; the 1st prize as well as a special prize Accord case winner of the VI Antonio Janigro International Cello Competition in Poreč , the 1st prize as well as a special prize of the August Dombrovskis VI International Competition, the1st prize in the competition of string instruments of all Lithuanian academies in 2008, Grand Prix in the competition organized by the society of Jews in Lithuania in 2008, Yamaha Award winner in 2010, and in addition to winning many others.

In 2005 Mr. Pyšniak was awarded a grant of the Monsignor Kazimieras Vasiliauskas Fund. In 2006 he was awarded by Lithuanian president Valdas Adamkus for the making known the cultural name of Lithuania abroad. In 2009 Gleb Pyšniak was selected the “New Master on Tour" in the International „Holland music sessions“ and able to perform in the world's famous concert halls. In 2012 during the festival "ISA Prague-Vienna-Budapest" together with violinist Dalia Dedinskaite Gleb Pyšniak won "Kodály Award" for an outstanding performance of Zoltán Kodály Duo op. 7 for violin and cello.

In 2008 he performed a world premier with prof. David Geringas, prof. Rimantas Armonas and others - CONCERTO DA CAMERA for 7 cellos by Vytautas Laurušas and after recorded it.

In 2008 he made recording for the National Latvian Radio.

Mr. Pyšniak began his formal studies in 1998 at the Balys Dvarionas Ten-Year Music School under Tatjana Kuc. Afterwards, he graduated from the Lithuanian Music and Theatre Academy as a student of Rimantas Armonas. He currently studies at the Music and Performing Arts University in Vienna as a student of Johannes Meissl and at the Konservatorium Wien University as a student of Natalia Gutman. Since 2013 together with "Vilos Trio" Mr. Pyšniak is aspirant of European Chamber Music Academy ECMA.

Immaculacy and powerful expression – the concert season at the Euphrasian Basilica ended with a performance of Gleb Pyšniak and Linas Dužinskas. An evening before last, the concert of cellist Gleb Pyšniak and pianist Linas Dužinskas from Lithuania at the Euphrasian Basilica, Poreč, ended a rich and extremely high quality concert season of this year. The young Lithuanian presented an attentively and carefully prepared musical programme to the audience, which he performed excellently for the pleasure of those present, demonstrating virtuosity and love to his instrument. The audience of Poreč had an opportunity to hear Gleb Pyšniak also during the sixth A. Janigro International Cello Competition when the young musician won the 1st Prize in the fourth category. During his concert appearance he played the wonderful Adagio by D. Shostakovich where already at the beginning of the recital the cellist showed not only the virtuoso qualities of his musical instrument, but also an unbelievable gentleness, warmth and depth of the tone, which emerged from his emotionally fresh music. Later he performed the Sonata C-dur, op. 102, no 1 by L. van Beethoven. Considering the serious character and the depth of penetration into the musical material required by Beethoven’s compositions, his music demonstrated a convincing and powerful experience of this musical opus. His performance of D. Popper’s Elfentanz op. 39 was followed by the presentation of great stillness and high professional quality strings, like A. Šenderovas’s composition Two Songs of Sulamite, which the audience greeted with a storm of applause. Later he performed B. Dvarionas’s Pezzo elegiaco and M. K. Čiurlionis’s Nocturno; during the performance the cellist demonstrated beautiful tone followed by mannerist imagination and a subtle meaning of dynamic nuance, melodic quality and developed feeling of musical phrase. At the end of his concert appearance we had an opportunity to hear A. Piazzola’s great Le Grand Tango which harmoniously combines the old traditions of Argentineans and innovative characteristics of European classical music. It was performed by the musicians convincingly, with inspiration and effectively, and the audience thanked them with long applause, thus getting two encores. This year the 46th concert season in Poreč, at the Euphrasian Basilica, presented various kinds of music, was rich and of high quality. There were 15 concerts and a Scarlatti week, and an exceptional thanks to the Austrian Vienna Piano Trio, Internationale Camerati Musicale, Greenwich Trio, Goran Filipecius piano recital, Viktoras Vidovićius and Carlo Marchiones guitar recital that took place during the Scarlatti week, Trio Wanderer and Gleb Pyšniak’s concert.

The audience was offered a challenging programme and a trip through different musical epochs from the baroque to the modern: from F. Mendelssohn Bartholdy’s piano trio in D minor op. 49 via the 2nd solo suite for cello from J. S. Bach, performed by Gleb Pysniak (21 years), to the Cello Concerto in D minor (2nd movement - Intermezzo) by E. Lalo and the 17th and 21st Paganini Capriccie. The close communication between the musicians was particularly evident in the chamber music groups which performed “Revolucionario” by A. Piazolla (arr. for string trio) and the piano trio in B major op. 8 by J. Brahms. Eye contact, immediate immersion in the music, and the connection of body and instrument were noticeable in almost every musician. A certain professionalism and routine was also evident in the performances: even on closer inspection there was barely a sign of nervousness. It was obvious that both participants and spectators were delighted to be able to take part in this „evening full of music“. It was only a shame that so few young people attended the concert: such an event should be the inspiration to achieve something comparable to the young musicians on the stage. One thing Handing out the flowers at the end of the concert is definitely clear: the 16th performance course, in which EMCY prize winners played an important part, was enjoyed by all the participants and brought them a step closer to their path to become professional musicians. On Saturday the 22nd of November a European Concert took place in Olso during the Norwegian Music Competition for Youth 2008. The guests this time were the cellist Gleb Pysniak from Lithuania and LALÀ Vocal Ensemble from Austria. Gleb was accompanied by the Musician of the Year 2007, pianist Ole Christian Haagenrud who was the Norwegian participant at the concert. They made a remarkable interpretation of the first movement of Grieg’s sonata. (...) On Monday 24th of November Gleb, LALÀ Vocal Ensemble and Ole Christian were invited to make a short version of the European Concert at Manglerud Music College. Once again the talented young musicians created a magic atmosphere. The students would hardly let them go.
