Clarnettist Vytautas Giedraitis (*1988), a representative of the yonger generation, graduated from J. Naujalis Music Gymnasium in Kaunas, where he studied with V. Žemaitis. He also honed his skills under Prof. M. Arrignon in Paris (2007-2008), and Prof. J. Jensen at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and Theatre.
Giedraitis, a winner of fourteen national and international competitions, took part in various festivals including D. Oistrach (Estonia) and Children Against Terror Festival (Moscow). In 2012 he was awarded a Yamaha Foundation Grant As a soloist he has appeared with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre Symphony Orchestra, Peru Chamber Orchestra, Kaunas Chamber Orchestra and St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra as well as the Musica humana ensemble, Vilnius String Quartet and Čiurlionis Quartet. Giedraitis is a member of the orchestra he has also appeared with the Baltic Philharmonic and European Union Youth symphony orchestras.
The clarnettist is a member of Trio Claviola also involving young Lithuanian musicians – pianist Ugnė Antanavičiūtė and violist Jurgis Juoazapaitis. The Trio has taken part in festivals, performing Lithuanian music in various European countries. Music critics praise the Trio‘s high artistic standards and profesionalism, which is rather unusual with collectives of such a young age. In 2008, Claviola garnered first prize in the Lithuanian chamber music competition, and was awarded Grand Prix at the international competition Music Without Borders.
Giedraitis is a recipient of the President Valdas Adamkus’ special prize.
