Vaclovas Augustinas (born 1959) is a versatile personality successfully working in various musical fields. He graduated twice from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, where he studied choir conducting under Prof. Hermanas Perelšteinas and composition under Prof. Julius Juzeliūnas. An excellent choir conductor, he became the artistic director of the Vilnius City Municipal Choir Jauna Muzika in 1992. Augustinas is also a popular choir music composer and arranger; various choirs and music publishers eagerly include in their repertoire his modal, repetitive , contemplative or ecstatic compositions that have received awards at various international competitions. Besides, the composer is a famous teacher at music schools of various levels. From 1980 to 1992 Augustinas was teaching at the Ąžuoliukas Music School and is currently teaching at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre and the Vilnius Pedagogical University. He used to play and sing in Lithuanian rock band Saulės Laikrodis and Antis. After the rebirth of Antis in 2007, he continues to compose songs for the group and also plays keyboard. in the year 2010 the composer received the Lithuanian National Culture and Art Prize for spreading the power of choral art and for the moderness of sacral music.
