Saulius Auglys was born in Ukmergė. He started learning music in Ukmerge Music School. Later he graduated from Vilnius Conservatory, and the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, where he currently teaches percussion.

In order to make percussion instruments popular S. Auglys performs in many concerts, arranges pieces for percussion and creates himself. In 1988 he started his work at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre and since 1993 he is the head of the percussion section of the symphony orchestra of the theatre. S. Auglys is the organizer as well as the participant of international percussion festivals in Lithuania.

Quite a few pieces performed by Saulius are recorded at the Lithuanian Radio. S. Auglys’s repertoire includes works by many different composers of various styles and genres. He pays particular attention to modern music.
