Rusnė Mikiškaitė picked up the saxophone at the age of eleven in Trakai School Of Arts, where she was taught by Ričardas Čiupkovas. Lead by an active and greatly competent teacher Rusnė attended the National J. Pakalnis competitions and won prizes, she also won the third prize in the International competition „Gradus At Parnasum“, performed in various concerts and festivals.
In 2004, at the age of sixteen, Rusnė graduated from Trakai School of Arts and started studying at Juozas Tallat-Kelpša Conservatory in Vilnius with professor A. Pupkevičius. While studying, she played in various ensembles, performed in festivals, projects of conservatory, also she performed in the Lithuanian National Television show about the Conservatory.
After successfully graduating from Vilnius Conservatory, Rusnė started studying in the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. She studied classical saxophone with docent Aleksandras Fedotovas. In the second year of her studies, Rusnė was granted an Erasmus Scholarship, that gave her a chance to study classical saxophone in the Netherlands, under professor J. Van der Linden.
After the Erasmus exchange Rusnė kept on studying in Lithuania, where she was performing in many concerts together with her father, birbynė player Kastytis Mikiška, organists Jūratė Lansbergytė and Jarūnė Barkauskaitė, flautists Vytautas Oškinis and Marius Pupkovas. Rusnė was performing at Druskininkai Summer „M.K.Čiurlionis“ festivals twice, played in st. John, Liutherons and other churches around Lithuania, where she performed various sacral music pieces along with an arrangements of M.K.Čiurlionis music and A. Piazzolla pieces. In 2008 Rusnė performed at the Great Musicians Parade in the Lithuanian Philharmonic hall together with K. Mikiška and J. Lanzbergytė.
In the year 2009 Rusnė was a participant of the 6th Contemporary Noncommercial Art Festival „Vilnius Faces“, where she was playing soprano saxophone in the opera „The Other Three Sisters“ by Albertas Navickas. Rusnė also performed with the Academy‘s saxophone quartet, played with the State Symphonic Orchestra at the festival „Gaida“, and participated in the international festival „Music without borders“ in Druskininkai. Rusnė was a member of the European Saxophone Ensemble 2011. She toured many European Countries with this ensemble, performing together with other 11 saxophonists from different EU countries and artistic director Cezarius Gadzina.
In year 2013 Rusnė was teaching as well as performing concerts in the international summer music cource "Trakai fanfare week". In year 2014 Rusne was performing in the international music fstival "Reacurrences"in Vilnius.
At the present Rusnė is studing masters in Utrecht conservatory, the Netherlands. Here she is performing actively with pianist Thijn Vermeulen, various chamber music groups, ARtez/HKU saxophone orchestra.
