Rolandas Romoslauskas was born in 1959. He graduated from M. K. Čiurlionis Gymnasium of Arts in Vilnius. Later he studied at the Moscow Conservatory with Prof. M. Tolpygo, from which he graduated in 1983. At present he is the first violist of the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra and the director of the ensemble, Vilniaus Arsenalas.

R. Romoslauskas’ concert activities began immediately after studies. He played with various chamber ensembles and prepared an extensive repertoire of chamber music. As a soloist Rolandas Romoslauskas gives concerts with the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra. He has performed G.F.Telemann’s Concerto for viola and strings in A major; Double concerto for clarinet and viola by M.Bruch; Lacrimae for viola and strings by B.Britten; and J.S.Bach’s Bradenburg Concerto No. 6. In addition, he has played the viola solo part in R.Strauss symphonic poem, Don Quixote, etc.

R.Romoslauskas has participated in various chamber music festivals in Luxembourg, France, Germany, and Poland. Already in 1976 playing with the chamber orchestra of the M.K.Čiurlionis Gymnasium of Arts (under the button of Prof. Saulius Sondeckis), he participated in the H. von Karajan Competition. The orchestra won the Golden Medal. In 1990 he played in the Soviet Festival Orchestra touring London, Singapore, and other cities. In recent years he often performs and tours with the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra.

 

R.Romoslauskas has a wide-ranging repertoire. He performs early music as well as  compositions by modern authors. However, he pays special attention to Baroque music. Since its inception, he plays in as well as manages the Vilnius Arsenalas Ensemble.
