Raimondas Sviackevičius finished his postgraduate studies at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in 1999 (MA); in 1998 – 1999 he studied accordion at the Music Academy in Lodz (Poland) with accordionist and composer Prof. Bogdan Dowlasz; in 1999 – 2000, he studied at the Sibelius Academy, Helsinki, with Prof. Matti Rantanen; in 1999 – 2001 he studied for PhD(Muz) at the Royal Conservatoire in Hague (Holland) with Prof. Fridrich Lips (Russia) and Johan De Witho (Holland).
Raimondas Sviackevičius is a laureate of many accordion competitions in Lithuania (1988, 1990, 1992, and 1994). In 1996 he participated in the International Accordion Competition Citta di Castelfidardo in Italy where he won the First Prize in the duo category. In 1998 he won the Third Prize at the same competition in the solo category. In 1999 he won the Second Prize at the International Music Competition Pianello Val Tidone in the concert solo category. In August 1999 Sviackevičius participated in the 8th International Accordion Competition Premio Internazionale per fisarmonica Stefano Bizzarri and won the First Prize and the Special Prize for the best performance of the compulsory piece. In summer 2000 he participated in the 9th International Accordion Competition Premio Internazionale per fisarmonica Stefano Bizzarri where he was the absolute winner. Beside the First Prize, he won the highest award of the competition, The Golden Lyre.
R. Sviackevičius has performed as a soloist together with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra (conductor Robertas Šervenikas), St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra(art director Donatas Katkus, conductor Stefan Fraas (Germany)), Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra and Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra. He has given recitals and prepared original programmes in festivals: Returns (Sugrįžimai, 2001), Christopher Summer Festival (2003, 2004), Druskomanija 2004, Gaida (2004), Young Music (Jauna muzika, 2005).
Sviackevičius performs as a soloist and also chamber music with various musicians and ensembles; he participates in various non-traditional projects, collaborates with Lithuanian composers in preparing new opuses for accordion. He is a member of the contemporary music ensemble Gaida.
The accordionist has been participating in international master classes, seminars and festivals. Many times he has given concerts with great success in Germany, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Denmark, Austria, Poland, Holland, USA and Russia.
He has worked as a member of a jury in national and international competitions: A. Krzanowski International Accordion Competition (Poland), Val Tidone International Music Competitions, International Accordion Prize ‘Stefano Bizzarri’ (Italy), Coupe Mondiale (Slovakia, Hungary).
In 2004 he published a solo CD, A Farewell to Arms.
Sviacikevičius has been teaching at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre as well as Karoliniškės Music School.
