Ona Jonaitytė (b. 1982) graduated from Vilnius Jesuit Gymasium in 2000 and Balys Dvarionas Ten-Year Music School for Children where she studied flute with Paulius Koncė. The same year she entered theLithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre to study with Prof. Algirdas Vizgirda. In 2004 – 2005 she attended traineeship courses in France, Lyon National Conservatoire of Music and Dance (Conservatoir national superieur musique et danse de Lyon) with Prof. Philippe Bernold and assistant Emmanuelle Reville. Several times, she has participated in master classes held by the famous flutist Gerard Buorgogne. In 2003, she participated in an open lesson held by Prof. William Bennet at the Royal Academy of Music, London. In 2004, she was invited to Neuhardenberg International Wind Chamber Music master classes held by the clarinettist Prof. Eduard Brunner and bassoonist Prof. Klaus Thunemann.
Ona Jonaitytė won the 1st prize at the VIII J. Pakalnis National Young Performers Competition (2000) and 3rd prize at the XXIX Ščečinik Young Performers Competition in Poland (2000). In 2005 she won the First Prize at the international flute competition Juodkrantė 2005 and Second Prize together with the woodwind quintet of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre at the Klaipėda International Competition for Chamber Ensembles and Concertmasters. In 2006 she won the only prize at the YAMAHA woodwind competition. Together with the mixed trio of the Lithuanian B.Dvarionas Music School, she won the 1st prize at the IV Lithuanian Accordion Competition (2000). Ona Jonaityte has been actively participating in the Lithuanian music scene not only as a soloist, but also as a performer of chamber music. She has played with the Student Symphony Orchestra of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, Vilnius University Chamber Music Ensemble and Musica Humana; she has toured Poland Germany and France. She has performed together with the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, and performed J. S. Bach’s Passion according to John in Spain together with the Vilnius State Quartet and choir Aidija. In 2003, she worked at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre, and now she is the primario of the flute quartet of the LAMT (Ona Jonaityte, Ula Caplikaite, Anzelika Daunoraviciute and Jelena Kruvelis). In 2006 she finished her MA studies at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre and was awarded a performer and teacher’s diploma. The same year she was offered a teacher’s position at the M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts. Currently, she has been studying at the Boston Conservatoire (USA) with Prof. Linda Toote.
Ona Jonaitytė has performed in ensembles with the oboists Donatas Pocius and Celine Heurtier (France), clarinettists Šarūnas Jankauskas, Andrius Bernotaitis, Guntis Kuzma (Latvia) and Carolie Ordulu (France), bassoonists Vladimir Sedlak (Slovakia) and Anne-Charlotte Lacroix (France), violinist Agne Švagždytė, violist Irutė Bilotaitė and cellist Povilas Jacunskas.
