The Lithuanian mezzo-soprano Nora Petročenko is in a constant demand as a performer of baroque and classical music, and is equally active in the field of contemporary music in Lithuania and Europe. The artist is often invited to perform her classical music repertoire and various opera productions.
Nora Petročenko studied at the National M.K. Čiurlionis School of Arts in Vilnius, later received her M. A. from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. The singer attended masterclasses given by well-known opera singers Algirdas Janutas (tenor), Liubov Chuchrova (soprano) as well as such prominent figures as Kevin Smith , Helmuth Rilling, Herman Max, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Roberto Gini, Claudine Ansermet, David Gowland, Alessandro Pagliazzi, Roberto Balconi and others.
Nora Petročenko received considerable international success and recognition in the last few years while collaborating with french Theatre team "T&M"/Paris and creating the roles of Catherine di Medici in W. Mitterer's opera "Massacre," (director L. Lagarde; conductor P. Rundel) ,Fricka and Helmwige in R. Wagner’s / J. Dove’s "Ring Saga” (director A. Gindt; conductor P. Rundel) , Margaret Thatcher in "Aliados” by Sebastian Rivas (director A. Gindt; conductor L.Warynski). New roles created by the singer in her homeland include – Thais friend in a staged version of ”Alexander Feast” by G. F. Haendel, (Lithuanian National Opera and Balet theatre), Cornelia in “Julio Cesare” by G. F. Haendel (Baltic Chamber Opera Theatre), Juditha in a staged version of “Juditha Triumphans” by A. Vivaldi (Baroque Opera Theatre/Vilnius).
The singer has sung with SWR Sinfonieorchester Baden-Baden und Freiburg (Germany), Remix Ensemble (Portugal), Multilatérale Ensemble (France), „Spectra Ensemble“ (Belgium), Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia (Belgium) as well as with the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, Lithuanian National Symphony, Lithuanian State Symphony, Klaipeda Chamber, St. Christopher Chamber Orchestras and also with early music ensembles such as "Banchetto Musicale" „ Affectus Musicus“ Baltic States Baroque orchestra, „Brevis consort“ and many others.
Nora Petročenko has taken part in various prestigious international music festivals such as "Musica" (Strasbourg/France), Berliner Festspiele (Germany/Berlin) "Gaida," Thomas Mann festival, PAŽAISLIS music festival, "Banchetto Musicale" and many others.
Among the most prominent of the singer’s performed pieces are baroque operas – “Dido and Aeneas” by H. Purcell, “Giulio Cesare” by G. F. Haendel ,“La liberatione di Ruggiero dall 'Isola d’Alcina" by Fr. Caccini, "Il ballo delle ingrate" by C. Monteverdi. Also important are oratorical genres - J. S. Bach Mass in b minor, "Magnificat", “La Ressurezione” by G. F.Haendel, W.A. Mozart's "Requiem", "Gloria" and "Introduzione e Gloria" by A. Vivaldi, "Stabat Mater" by D. Scarlatti, A. Bononcini and G.P. Pergolesi, "Dixit Dominus" by G.F. Handel, “St. Casimiro- Re di Polonia“ by A. Scarlatti and many others. Nora Petročenko is often performing music written by leading Lithuanian composers of modern times - Onutė Narbutaitė, Mindaugas Urbaitis, Feliksas Bajoras, Marcelijus Martinaitis, Osvaldas Balakauskas, Vidmantas Bartulis, Raminta Šerkšnytė, Rita Mačiliūnaitė and others.
