Modestas Pitrėnas receives the Lithuanian National Prize

The conductor receives award for contributions to culture

The most honorable culture award in the country - the National Prize – has been given to conductor Modestas Pitrėnas. He was awarded the prize for "a wide range of creative flourishes while interpreting classical and contemporary music and spreading Lithuanian musical culture”.

Modestas Pitrėnas has developed a series of concerts with the Lithuanian National Symphony, Lithuanian State Symphony, Little Lithuania’s Symphony, The Student Symphony Orchestra of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, Lithuanian Chamber and Šiauliai Chamber orchestras. From 2006 to 2011 Modestas Pitrėnas was the chief conductor of the Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra, currently he is the chief conductor and music director of the Latvian National Opera. Modestas Pitrėnas is often invited to conduct in various European countries.
