This is what critics have written about the Musica Humana chamber music ensemble, led by Professor Algirdas Vizgirda. It was established in 1974, and now demonstrates a high artistic mastery, recognised not only in Lithuania but also abroad. Listeners and critics from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, France, Germany, Great Britain, Belgium and Scandinavia have commented on the skill of the musicians, their expressiveness, subtle taste, and artistry. The group frequently participates in international festivals, in Lithuania and abroad, such as Gaidos, Pazaislis Music Festival, Klaipedos Muzikos Pavasaris ("Klaipeda Music Spring"), Vilnius Music Festival, Ars Baltica in Nürnberg, and "The Vale of Glamorgan Festival" in Britain. In the summer of 1999 Vizgirda initiated the first Kursiu Nerija international summer festival of chamber music in Neringa. It has already become a traditional event in the culture of the region. Outstanding works of baroque, classical and modern Baltic chamber music are performed at the festival.

Large projects are included in the repertoire of Musica Humana, such as programmes devoted to works by famous composers from Germany, France, Italy and England: the cycle of 12 concertos, Antique Instrumental and Vocal Music of Europe; and the cycle of 10 concertos, The Baroque Route. The ensemble arranges and performs music from the old Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
However, it does not limit itself to classical music. Many Lithuanian composers have become interested in its performances and in the artistry of the ensemble, and they have created many good pieces of chamber music for it. Cantus ad Futurum by A.Martinaitis, Medziu Kova (“The Struggle of the Trees” ) by B.Kutavicius, Meiles Elegijos (“Elegies of Love”) by J.Tamulionis, Dzuku Dainos (“Songs of the Dzukai”) by F.Bajoras and Sokiu Siuita (“Suite of Dances”) by O.Balakauskas were all initiated by the ensemble and are now part of its repertoire.

The main members of Musica Humana are accomplished artists who are devoted to music: the art director and flautist Professor Algirdas Vizgirda, the oboist Robertas Beinaris, the cellist Raimundas Jasiukaitis, and the harpsichordist and organist Gediminas Kviklys. Famous professional Lithuanian musicians and singers are invited to perform with them important works by J.S.Bach, Vivaldi, Händel, Purcell, and others.

Algirdas Vizgirda
Is a soloist with the Lithuanian National Philharmonic, and the art director of the Musica Humana ensemble. He is one of the most accomplished Lithuanian musicians. Vizgirda studied at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and the P.Tchaikovsky Conservatoire in Moscow. He also studied at the Paris national Conservatoire with world-famous flautists Christian Larde and Alain Marion.
Music from various epochs of various styles can be heard at solo recitals by Vizgirda. Since 1988 he has played in the famous chamber music ensemble Baltic Trio. A CD by Baltic Trio was brought out by Warner Bross recording studio in the USA in 1997. The most recent CD by Vizgirda and Giedre Luksaite-Mrazkova, aprofessor and harpsichord player at the Prague Music Academy. “All Bach’s Sonatas for flute”, came out in 2001. Vizgirda has given many suuccessful concerts in  Western Europe and the Scandinavian countries. Critics describe his playing as an expression of musicianship, the expressive sound of the flute, subtle artistic taste and pronounced artistry. He has been invited to give cources in the flute in France, Belgium, the Czech Republic and Latvia. Vizgirda was awarded the Order of Gediminas of the Republic of Lithuania for his work for musical culture in 1998. In 2002, he was a winner of the Lithuanian National Prize.
Raimundas Jasiukaitis
Studied at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and at the P.Tchaikovsky Conservatoire in Moscow. He plays with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra. The expressive sound of his cello and the exact and stylish articulation of his basso continuo give a solid background to the ensemble.
Gediminas Kviklys
Studied piano and organ at the Lithuanian Academy of Music . He also studied the harpsichord at the Prague Music Academy (in the class of Prof. Z.Ruzickova). He is currently a teacher at the Ciurlionis Art Gymnasium and head of the Organ and Harpsichord Department at the Lithuanain Academy of Music. He participates actively in the concert life of the Lithuania, and organises recitals of organ music. He also recorded historic organ music from the 18th and 19th centuries for the album Lietuvos Vargonai (“Organs of Lithuania”).
Robertas Beinaris
Is a talented young oboist. He studied at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and now works at the Lyons National Conservatoire. Beinaris is oboe soloist with the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra since 1998 . He has played with Musica Humana since 2000. We heard subtile and expressive music, and a rare harmony, in the concert by Musica Humana

La Depeche du Midi, France, 13 March 1986

The pieces of music were well selectet and well performed. It is baroque of the highest order. The performance gave us great pleasure, relief, and comfort to the mind and the soul.

Bornholms Musikfestival, Poul Ortved Lund, Denmark, 26 July 1995

The ensemble itself possessed what is vitaly important: the courage to test the limits of music.

Svenska Dagbladet, Stockholm, March 11, 1994

The interpretation of J.S.Bach by the chamber music ensemble "Musica Humana" opened to us unique world of the oratorio genre. The performance was full of harmony and pure style, with every phrase having unique artistic expression.

7 meno dienos, Vilnius, April 2, 1999
