Monika Urbonaitė was born in 1984, Kaunas. In 2003, she has graduated from the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts. Currently, she has been studying at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (Lietuvos Muzikos ir teatro akademija) with Doc. Undinė Jagėlaitė.

Monika is a laureate of M. K. Oginski (Byelorussia, 1995) and J. Kocian (Czech Republic, 1996) international competitions for young violinists. In 1999, she won the first prize at the J. Fledžinskas National Competition for Young Performers. In 2001, she was awarded the special jury prize, The Talent of Hope, at the international J. Heifetz Violin Competition. In 2002, she took the second prize at the international A. Dambrovski Violin Competition in Riga. In 2004, Monika became a laureate of the National Balys Dvarionas String Competition.

Monika Urbonaitė has played solo with famous Lithuanian orchestras: Lithuanian Chamber (Lietuvos kamerinis)  and State Symphony (Valstybinis simfoninis) Orchestras as well as with the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts Orchestra. Since 2001, she has performed together with the Baltic youth orchestra Kremerata Baltica when it toured Austria, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, China, and USA etc. In 2003, she became a member of this orchestra.
