Lithuanian soprano Lauryna Bendžiūnaitė is currently a member of the Lithuanian State Orchestra Opera Company.
She studied at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (with prof. R. Maciūtė) and the Royal Academy of Music, London (with Prof. Joy Mammen). Since she left the Academy in 2010, she has studied with Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and Dennis OʼNeill.
In 2003 Bendžiūnaitė won the first prize in the international “XXI Century Art” contest Kijev-Vorzel. Further prizes include second prize in the “Jonuškaitės- Zaunienės” contest (2006) and the RAM “Pavarotti Prize” (2010). In 2011 she was awarded the honour “Lithuanian Discovery of the Year”.
She has sung the roles of Pamina, Musetta, Sophie (Massenet), Joanna (Sondheim), Ksenia (Mussorgsky), Ist Lady, Nerina (Haydn), Semele and Michaela (concert performance).
Concert appearances have included the Cultural Days of the European Central Bank - European Union (Frankfurt 2008), Tower Festival Gala concert with Dame Kiri Te Kanawa (London 2009), St Prex Festival (2010) and a Concert for Sir Colin Davis (London 2011).
Lauryna Bendžiūnaitė has sung with the Lithuanian National Philharmonic chamber Orchestra Musica Humana, Lithuanian National Opera Orchestra, Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, Brandenburgische Staats Sinfonie Orchester, Norrköping Symphony Orchestra and London Sinfonietta under the conductors A.Vizgirda, R.Šervenikas, G.Rinkevičius, M.Kutson, T.Pinnock, P.Ringborg, R.Stapleton and Sir Charles Mackerras.
In 2011/2012 she will sing Musetta in the Royal Swedish Opera's production of La boheme.
