Laima Domikaitė (Kvaraciejienė) was born on June 16, 1958, Vilnius. She graduated from solo singing at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre(1983), attended training classes held by E. V. Obrazcova at The Bolshoi Theatre, Moscow (1984–1985), and University of Music and Dramatic Arts, Graz, (Austria, 1991–1992). Since 1983, she has been a soloist at the Lithuanian National Opera and Drama Theatre. During her training programme at The Bolshoi Theatre she has prepared the following opera parts: Olga (P. I. Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin), Countess and Pauline (P. I. Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades), Konchakovna (A. Borodin’s Prince Igor), Carmen (G. Bizet’s Carmen). At the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre she has prepared the following opera parts: Fenena (G. Verdi’s Nabucco), Sudzuki (G. Puccini’s Madam Butterfly), Madalena (G. Verdi’s Rigoletto), Carmen (G. Bizet’s Carmen), Duchess (G. Puccini’s Sister Angelica), Alice (G. Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor), Marthe, Mr Siébel (Ch. Gounod’s Faust), Mamma Liucia (P. Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana), Old Lady (B. Kutavičius’s The Bear), Mother (B. Dvarionas Dalia), etc. During concerts she has performed the part of Delilah (C. Saint-Saens’s opera Samson and Delilah).
Domikaitė has performed together with many conductors and orchestras in Lithuania, Russia, Latvia, Estonia and other countries of Europe, also with the National Philharmonic Orchestra (conductor J. Domarkas), Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra (conductor S. Sondeckis), Riga Symphony Orchestra (conductor T. Miagi). The soloist gives theme recitals; she has performed alto parts in many large form opuses: G. Verdi’s and W. A. Mozart’s Requiem, J. S. Bach’s Mass h-minor and Passion of Matthew, G. Rossini’s, D. Scarlatti’s, G. Pergolesi’s and A. Vivaldi’s Stabat Mater, G. F. Handel’s oratory Messiah and Samson, G. Mahler’s III and VIII symphonies, P. Hartmann’s I symphony and A. Schoenberg’s Gurre-Lieder.
In 1992 Laima Domikaitė participated in the performance of J. S. Bach’s Mass h-minor in Spain (conductor Yehudi Menuhin), W. A. Mozart’s Requiem during the Schleswig-Holstein festival in Germany (conductor Justus Frantz). In 1999 she participated in the concerts of organ music and, together with the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, in the first performance of H. Purcelli’s Ode Come Ye Sons of Art (Birthday Ode for Queen Mary) in Lithuania. At the Lithuanian Opera of Chicago she sang the part of Mamma Lucia in P. Mascagni’s opera Cavalleria Rusticana (2005).
