One of the most famous conductor in Lithuania, the National Award winner Gintaras Rinkevičius (b. 1960) is a Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra‘s founder, artistic director and chief conductor. In 1996-2003 maestro worked Latvian National Opera‘s artistic director and chief conductor, in 2007-2009 he was the chief guest conductor. G. Rinkevičius is the Novosibirsk Academic Symphony Orchestra's chief conductor and artistic director since 2008, as well as the professor in Lithuanian Music and Theatre Academy. During the studies in St. Petersburg and Moscow P. Tchaikovsky Conservatory became the winner of three international competitions, G. Rinkevičius is invited to conduct the famous European orchestras, with world known musicians, has had performances in prestigious concert halls.

G. Rinkevičius world recognition started with victory in International H. von Karajan Conductors Competition (1985). Today, in G. Rinkevičius creative biography - a solid orchestras list, for which the maestro directed. Its are Berlin, Weimar Staatskapelle, Frankfurt an der Oder, Tampere, Copenhagen Tivoli, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, the Russian National and the Russian State, Odense Symphony and other orchestras. He has conducted concerts held in most famous concert halls - the Cologne Philharmonic, the Salzburg Festspielhaus, London's Albert Hall, Paris' Champs Elysées, Barcelona paleo della Musica in Zaragoza (Spain), Tampere (Finland), concert halls, the Moscow Philharmonic, P. Tchaikovsky Conservatory Great Hall, and others. G. Rinkevicius toured throughout Europe, Taiwan, Hong Kong, conducted at international festivals, among them - Nyon Festival in Switzerland, the Estoril Coast in Portugal, Warsaw Autumn in Poland, Europamusicale Munich, Chichester, Great Britain, North West France. He has conducted performances attended by world-famous artists V. Urmanavičiūtė-Urmana, S. Larin, M. Salminen, B. Maisuradze, K. Ricciarelli V. Tretyakov, J. Bashmet, P. Donohoe, O. Kagan, G. Kremer, D. Goering, RV Muraro and others. G. Rinkevicius collaborated with directors F. Zambello, M. Kimele, V. Left, O. Koršunovas, D. Ibelhauptaitė, J. Vaitkus.

A special place in G. Rinkevičius activities has a stage musical genres. From his first opera, since 1987, in National Theatre of Hungary (Mozart's Seraglio") has been prepared and conducted over twenty operas and ballets in different worlds stages. He has conducted ballets: P. Tchaikovsky's "Sleeping Beauty," "Swan Lake", "Nutcracker", S. Prokofiev's "Romeo and Juliet", I. Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring.". In 1993 W. A. Mozart's "Requiem" was built on with the Amsterdam Music Theatre ballet troupe, in 1998 debuted at the Gothenburg Opera with G. Bizet's opera "Carmen", in 2006 directed for G. Bizet's opera "Carmen" premiere in Scottish Opera. Maestro directed operas at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre, since 2003 are invited to conduct operas at the Moscow Grand Theatre. The whole stack of new operas by G. Rinkevicius was built at the Latvian National Opera (Verdi's "Nabucco," "Aida," "La Traviata," by R. Strauss' "Salome," Tchaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin," "Queen of Spades", D. Shostakovich's Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District, WA Mozart's "The Magic Flute" and so on.), as well as in 2002-2005 working as chief conductor in the Malmö Opera. More than 15 operas staged by maestro with his orchestra, the recent collaboration with director D. Ibelhauptaitė and costume designer J. Statkevičius - has attracted high-profile G. Puccini's "La Boheme" (2006), W. A. Mozart's "The Magic Flute" (2007), S. Sondheim's musical "Sweeney Todd - The Demon Barber" (2009).

For creative work G. Rinkevicius received more than one award.  During his works in Latvia, he was elected as Conductor of the Year (1999) and was awarded the Latvian Great Music Award (1997, 2000). In his collection are  Lithuanian, Latvian, Portuguese and Norwegian medals of Honor. In 1994 in Lithuania maestro was crowned by the achievements of the National Prize. Also, G. Rinkevičius was awarded as The enlightened person of the Year in 2010.
