Darius Mažintas is one of the most prominent and versatile young Lithuanian performers. While still at school, Darius Mažintas won many international competitions, among them: Balys Dvarionas (1994, Vilnius, Lithuania), Virtuosi per musica di pianoforte (1995, Usti nad Labem, Czech Republic), Citta di Senigalia (1996, Senigalia, Italy), Pietra Ligure (1997, Pietra Ligure, Italy), Konzerteum (1998, Athens, Greece), Stasys Vainiūnas (2000, Vilnius, Lithuania) and A. Rubinstein (2003, Paris, France).


Darius Mažintas has been giving many concerts in Lithuania and abroad. With concerts he visited USA, Germany, France, Italy, Russia, Sweden and other countries. The repertoire of the pianist includes most famous opuses by Western European and Russian classical composers: concertos, solo and chamber compositions.


Darius Mažintas has played repeatedly with the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra and Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra led by Maestro Saulius Sondeckis. As a soloist he appeared in prestigious music festivals – Aspen Music Festival (1999, Aspen, USA), Westchester Music Festival (2004, Westchester, USA) and Sommerakademie (2004, Trier, Germany).


In 2006 Darius Mažintas, together with pianist Kasparas Uinskas, initiated and implemented an educational outreach programme ‘Musical Inheritance at the City of Vilnius Schools’. During this programme around five thousand high school students were exposed to live performances of classical music, which turned out to be a great success.


Darius Mažintas has attended master classes held by Prof. Leon Fleisher (USA), Prof. Gabriel Chodos (USA), Prof. Anthony di Bonaventura (USA), Prof. Jerome Lowenthal (USA), Prof. Igor Lazko (France) and Prof. Peter Eicher (Germany).


Darius Mažintas was born in 1982, Vilnius, Lithuania. He started studying piano at the age of six. In 1988 he enrolled at the M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art (now the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art, Vilnius). In 2000 he graduated from the Balys Dvarionas Music School and since 2000, he has been studying at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (now continuing his Master studies with Prof. Veronika Vitaitė). In October 2005 the pianist left for studies at the G. Verdi conservatorio di musica in Milano, Italy.
