Dainius Puodziukas was born in Vilnius, to a family of musicians. He began playing the violin at the age of five. In 1995, having graduated from the M.K.Ciurlionis Art Gymnasium, he was admitted into the Lithuanian Academy of Music. Later he studied at the National Paris Conservatory. Having received a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree from the Lithuanian Academy of Music, Dainius continued his violin studies at Boston University’s College of Fine Arts, in the Artist Diploma Program. He graduated from Boston University in 2003 with commendation and a special award. In 2005 he received the Artist Diploma from the Longy School of Music.
Dainius Puodziukas studied under the most prominent Lithuanian violinists: J.Dvarionas, I. Armonaite, R.Katilius, E.Paulauskas. Later he perfected his mastery of playing under world famous violinists: D.Mazurkevich, Y.Mazurkevich, V.Spivakov, P.Zazofsky, K.Winkler, S.Gaseau, P.Salaff.
Mr. Puodziukas participated in many international festivals: Music Academy of the West – Santa Barbara (USA), International Heifetz institut (USA), Soesterberg (Holland), Thomas Mann (Lithuania). In 1997 he represented Lithuania at the 20th Century Music Academy in Paris, founded by the famous composer and conductor, P.Boulez. Dainius earned his laureate position at the New York festival “Young Virtuosos 2001” and was afforded the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall.
D.Puodziukas is a winner of many international competitions. In 1995 he won 1st place in Vilnius, 1st place in the J.S.Bach competition (USA) in 2000, Grand Prix “Show Pieces” in 2003 (USA), 1st place at the Boston University “Concerto Aria Competition” in 2003. In 2004, he won the Longy Honors competition for both solo and for chamber music. Also, in the same year, he won the Longy Concerto competition.
Dainius has played solo with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra,“Kremerata Baltica" Chamber Orchestra, Longy Chamber Orchestra, Boston University Symphony Orchestra among others. In May of 2003, he was invited to perform as a soloist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Symphony Hall. He has also collaborated with conductors such as Keith Lockhart, Jeffrey Rink, Samuel Pasgue, Saulius Sondeckis, Juozas Domarkas, Robertas Servenikas.
D.Puodziukas has played in Russia, Holland, Sweden, Germany, Switzerland and throughout the United States. By special invitation, in 2000, he and his pianist brother, Aidas performed at the Baltic States’ Presidential Meeting, in Vilnius. In 2003, Dainius and Aidas Puodziukas were invited to play in the “The Baltic Concert Series” in Boston also in the Corcoran Gallery in Washington,DC. 2008-2014 Dainius was violin teacher at National M.K.Čiurlionis School of Fine Arts ( 2009-2014 head of string department ). 2009-2013 member of string quartet “Chordos”.
D.Puodziukas is a faculty member of Vytautas Magnus University Music Academy string department.
Currently, Dainius is member of Chamber Orchestra “Kremerata Baltica” and performing solo and chamber music concerts in the Lithuania and abroad.
